Swindon Recital Series - Mozart's Keyboard

Swindon Recital Series opens its 2015/16 Season with a joyful celebration of one of the world’s most popular composers. Mozart was already competent on keyboard and violin when he started composing at the age of 5. Thirty years later when he died he left a catalogue of over 600 compositions full of brilliance, drama and elegant beauty and many that are instantly recognisable.

Paul Turner’s programme will explore the range of Mozart’s numerous solo piano works. Featured pieces are the Sonata facile in C major K545, instantly recognisable and described for Mozart as ‘for beginners’; the fantasia and sonata in C minor K475 and k457 – the fantasia is an excellent example of innovation in the 18th Century and quite technically demanding; Variations on Twinkle twinkle little star, a popular English lullaby set to the tune of a French folk song; and the Turkish rondo, one of Mozart’s best known pieces.

The concert takes place on Friday October 9th at the Swindon Arts Centre at 7.30pm. Tickets: £12, seniors £10, students £2.50, accompanied children 14 years and under free.
